·Did you check if the devices are getting detected under Device Manager?
·Did you check the devices on other USB ports or other computers?
·Do you have mapped network drives immediately following your last logical device (eg E:, F:, or G:)? If so, the device is probably mounting to the same point as one of those drives and thus becoming 'invisible'.

Step 2: Uninstall all the USB entries from Device Manager
Note: This will make your functional USB devices like your IPod or wireless network adapters to stop working for a while until the USB drivers are re-loaded.
a.Click on Start and typedevmgmt.msc, and then click OK. Device Manager opens.
b.ExpandUniversal Serial Bus controllers.
